How to switch between linked Dropbox accounts

You can switch between two linked Dropbox accounts on dropbox.com, the Dropbox desktop app, and the Dropbox mobile app. Learn how to link or unlink Dropbox accounts.

You must be logged into both linked Dropbox accounts on the web session or the app you’re using to switch between your accounts.

If your accounts aren’t linked, you can still switch to a different Dropbox account on any device by logging out of one account and logging into the other.

How to switch accounts

You must have two linked Dropbox accounts in order to switch between accounts using these instructions. Learn how to link or unlink Dropbox accounts.

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the top-right corner.
  3. Under Switch accounts, click the account you’d like to switch to at the bottom of the dropdown menu.

There’s no need to switch between linked accounts in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). Once you link them and log into both in the app, both Dropbox account folders can be opened from wherever you store them in File Explorer or Finder.

To switch accounts in your taskbar or menu bar:

  1. Click the Dropbox icon in your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac).
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the top-right corner.
  3. Under Switch accounts, click the account you’d like to switch to at the bottom of the dropdown menu.
  1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.
  2. Tap the account icon (person) in the bottom right.
  3. Tap the up and down arrows to the right of your name and email address.
  4. Tap the account you’d like to switch to in the pop-up menu.
  5. If prompted, log in to your linked account with your credentials.
