This article describes a process for all Dropbox users.

You need to verify the email address associated with your Dropbox account so you can always keep access to your files.

If you don’t verify your email address, Dropbox won’t be able to help you if you ever need to regain access to your Dropbox account. It only takes two minutes to verify your email address following the instructions below.

How to check if you’ve already verified your email address

If you've ever clicked on a link in an email we've sent you, you’ve already verified your email address and don’t need to do anything else. If your email address hasn't been verified yet, we'll send you a link via email the first time you take an action that requires verification.

How to verify your email address

To verify your email address:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Send a verification email to the email address associated with your account.
  3. Look for the verification email from no-reply@dropbox.com in your inbox and click the link in that email.

A confirmation message will appear in your web browser.

What if I didn't get the email?

Check your spam folder to make sure it didn't end up there. You can also add the email address no-reply@dropbox.com to your address book and then try sending the email again.

If you still don’t receive the email, contact your email service provider to troubleshoot further.

What happens if I change the email address associated with my Dropbox account?

If you ever change the email address associated with your Dropbox account, you'll need to verify your new email the next time you do something like send a referral or a shared folder invite. Dropbox will send you a link via email when we need you to verify your new email address.
