Unlock and delete a copy of a shared folder

If you copied a shared folder from your Dropbox folder to another location on your computer, and you had view-only access to the shared folder, the copy of the folder might be locked. 

 

This article explains how to unlock the folder and delete it from your computer.

You’ll need to change the permissions of the copied folder so that you can delete it. To change the permissions:
 

  1. Right-click the locked folder.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Click Edit… under Groups or user names.
  5. Select your username.
  6. Check the box under Allow next to Full control.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click OK.
You’ll need to change the permissions of the copied folder to Read & Write, then move it to the Trash to delete it.
