Set view-only permissions for shared folder members

You can prevent other members from adding, editing, or deleting files in your shared folder by setting view-only permissions. Learn more about shared folders.

Set permissions when inviting people to a folder

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click Sharing.
  3. Scroll to the Folders in your Dropbox section.
  4. Click the Share link next to the shared folder.
  5. Enter the email addresses of the new members you’d like to add.
  6. In the same field, select Can view from the pull-down menu.
  7. Click the Share button that appears.

Change permissions for existing members of a folder

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click Sharing.
  3. Scroll to the Folders in your Dropbox section.
  4. Click the Share link next to the shared folder.
  5. Find the member you want to change permissions for and select Can view from the pull-down menu.

From your desktop

  1. Open your Dropbox folder.
  2. Right-click the shared folder.
  3. Hover over More…
  4. Select Manage access…
  5. You'll be taken to dropbox.com, where you can adjust invited member permissions.
