How to cancel your Dropbox subscription

You must cancel your Dropbox subscription from the place that you purchased it. 

Choose where you purchased your subscription from to find how to cancel your subscription:

  • The website (dropbox.com)
  • The Apple App Store
  • Google Play

Subscriptions purchased through the Dropbox App

If you purchased your subscription through the Dropbox App, then you purchased it through the default app store on your device:

  • If you have an iPhone or iPad, then you purchased it through the Apple App Store, so you can cancel it from Apple.
  • If you have an Android, then you purchased it through Google Play, so you can cancel it from Google.

How to cancel your subscription if you purchased it on dropbox.com

If you purchased your subscription from dropbox.com, then you must cancel it from dropbox.com. You can’t use the Dropbox mobile app to cancel subscriptions purchased from the website. 

To cancel your subscription on dropbox.com:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture) in the top right.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Plan.
  5. At the bottom of the page, click Cancel plan and follow the prompts.
  • If you have a Plus account, you will be downgraded to Basic (free) at the end of your current subscription
  • If you have a Professional account and want to switch to Basic, click I still want to downgrade and follow the prompts
    • If you want to switch to Plus instead, click Change my Dropbox plan, and then click Change plan and follow the prompts

How to cancel your subscription if you purchased it from the Apple App store 

If you purchased your Dropbox subscription from the Apple App Store or from iTunes, you must cancel your Dropbox subscription through Apple. To do so:

Make sure you’re signed in to the same account you used to purchase your subscription. 

If you cancel your subscription, you’ll be switched to Dropbox Basic (which is free). You’ll also have the option to switch to a different plan. 

If you’re unable to cancel your account using these steps, we recommend that you contact Apple support.

How to cancel your subscription if you purchased it from Google Play

If you purchased your Dropbox subscription from Google Play, you must cancel your subscription through Google Play. To do so:

Make sure you’re signed in to the same account you used to purchase your subscription. 

If you cancel your subscription, you’ll be switched to Dropbox Basic (which is free).

If you are unable to cancel your account using these steps, we recommend that you contact Google support.

Will I get a refund after I cancel my Dropbox subscription?

If you purchased your Dropbox subscription from dropbox.com, and you cancel your subscription, you will not receive a refund for the remainder of your current subscription.

If you purchased your Dropbox subscription from the Apple App Store or Google Play:

Will I lose my files after I cancel my Dropbox subscription?

No. All of your files and folders will remain in your Dropbox account, no matter which plan you downgraded to. You can continue to open and edit them as before. 

However, if you exceed the maximum amount of storage space for your new plan, your files will stop syncing to your devices and you won’t be able to add new files, unless you choose to upgrade your plan again.
