Dropbox for Salesforce: Setup and use for team members

Connect Dropbox to Salesforce

Team admins can easily connect a Dropbox team to Salesforce. Once this has been done, Dropbox Business team members can individually connect Dropbox to Salesforce.

  1. Click the Dropbox Options tab in Salesforce.
  2. Click Connect to Dropbox; you will be redirected to dropbox.com.
  3. Sign in to dropbox.com with your Dropbox Business account.
  4. Click Allow; you will be redirected back to Dropbox Options in Salesforce.


  • Team members will also be prompted to connect if they visit a Dropbox component in Salesforce.
  • Once connected, team members are returned to the record they started on. The Dropbox folder will now load.

Add files from Dropbox to Salesforce

There are two ways to add files using Dropbox for Salesforce.

If you're using a more recent browser version, you can drag-and-drop files to the Dropbox widget in your Salesforce records.

Alternatively, you can upload files from your computer:

  1. In the Dropbox for Salesforce widget, click the Add Files button.
  2. Navigate to the file you want to upload from you computer, and select the file(s) to upload.
  3. Click the Done button.

View or download a file in Salesforce

You can view, download, and share your files right from within Dropbox for Salesforce.

  1. Sign in to the Salesforce website.
  2. Navigate to the Dropbox widget in the record you're interested in, and locate the files you'd like to download.
  3. Click the file icon to open the file in Dropbox.
  4. Click the file name to download the file.

Create Dropbox folders in Dropbox for Salesforce

You can create new folders right within Salesforce using Dropbox for Salesforce.

  1. Sign in to the Salesforce website.
  2. Click the New Folder button, and then enter your folder name.
  3. Press Enter on your keyboard.

Delete or restore Dropbox files in Dropbox for Salesforce

Delete files

  1. Right-click the file in Salesforce.
  2. Click Delete.

Restore files

  1. In Salesforce, click Show Deleted Files.
  2. Right-click the file you’d like to recover.
  3. Click Restore.

Share a Dropbox file or folder to Chatter

  1. Open a contact's profile or an account entry.
  2. Right-click the file, and then click the Chatter icon.
  3. Add the message you'd like to share to Chatter.
    • You can use mentions (@) or hashtags (#).
  4. Click Post.
