Recents is a view in the Dropbox mobile app and at dropbox.com. It's designed to help you quickly access the most important files in your Dropbox.
What files are shown in Recents?
Across all platforms (dropbox.com and mobile apps), Recents will show you files and folders that you've recently added or edited.
In the Dropbox mobile app, items you've recently viewed will also appear in the Recents tab of the device that you viewed them from. For instance, if you viewed a file on your iPhone, that file would appear in the Recents tab on your iPhone, but not in the Recents tab of your iPad.
Android users, if you prefer to land on a particular folder rather than the Recents tab, create a shortcut to the folder on your device's home screen.
Who can see my recent files?
Only you can see your unique list of recent files. Recents is a view in your Dropbox that's private to you.
How do I refresh the Recents tab in the iOS app?
Swipe down to refresh recent files. There is also a search bar where you can search for any file in your Dropbox (including your recent files).
Can I clear my recent activity?
Right now it's not possible to clear what's listed in Recents.
What activity on a shared file is not shown in Recents?
Recents only displays actions you made on the files and folders in your Dropbox account. It does not show changes made by other users in shared files or folders.
Why can't I see files that I viewed on my computer or another device?
When you view a file, it only appears in the Recents tab of the device that you viewed it on. If you are not signed in when you view a file, then that file will also not appear in your recent files. Files that you add or edit in Dropbox will appear in your recent files on all connected devices.
