Restore a shared folder

You can restore a shared folder to your account in two ways: from the Deleted Files tab or from the Sharing tab.

Restore a shared folder you deleted

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click Files.
  3. Click Deleted Files.
  4. In the list, find the folder you want to restore.
  5. Click the folder you want to restore.
  6. Click Restore.

Add a shared folder you left

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click Files.
  3. Click Sharing.
  4. In the Folders you can add to your Dropbox section, find the folder you left.
  5. Click (ellipsis) beside the folder name.
  6. Click Add.

The Dropbox app automatically downloads the shared folder again, even if a previous version of it still exists on your computer. If the previous version is in the same location, Dropbox downloads the new version of the shared folder and adds (1) to the end of the name. This prevents an issue where two folders have the same name.

If you'd like to change or restore the previous name, you can rename it to whatever you'd like.
