If a video or audio file is shared with you on dropbox.com, you may not be able to stream (or play) the entire file. This depends on the kind of Dropbox account the owner of the file has: Basic, Plus, Professional, or Business.
This limitation only applies to shared video and audio files on dropbox.com. If the file is stored on your own account, you can always stream it (in its entirety) on dropbox.com.
There are two ways to play a complete audio or video file that was shared with you (in its entirety):
- Open and play it with the Dropbox mobile app
- Download it to your Dropbox account
If the owner of the video or audio file is a Dropbox Basic user
If a Dropbox Basic user shares a video or audio file with you, you can stream the first 15 minutes on dropbox.com.
If the owner of the video or audio file is a Dropbox Plus or Professional user
If the owner of a video or audio file is a Dropbox Business user
If a Dropbox Business user shares a video or audio file with you, you can stream the first four hours on dropbox.com.
