Why aren't my photos appearing in the mobile app?

There can be a few different reasons why photos wouldn't appear in the Dropbox mobile app. Click your operating system below to learn more.

Android

If you don't see some of your photos on the Photos tab, they might be missing information about when they were taken.

A digital photo usually has various pieces of information embedded in it, including the date and time it was taken. Dropbox uses this information to arrange your photos. If a photo's date is missing or incomplete, Dropbox will not display it on the Photos tab.

You can still access photos with missing dates on the file browser tab. And just like any other photo in your Dropbox, you can share photos with missing dates and add them to albums.

Here are some other reasons why your photos or images might not appear on the Photos tab:

  • We filter out image files that are less than 15 KB or that are in .png format. These are usually icons or thumbnails, so we assume you don't want them cluttering up your Photos tab.
  • If you're a Dropbox Business user, remember that the Photos tab will only display photos that are stored in your personal Dropbox.

Dropbox Business users

If you're a Dropbox Business user, please note two things about accessing your photos on an iOS phone or tablet:

  • On a Business account, the Photos tab is replaced by Notifications
  • The Photos tab will appear when you switch to your personal account in the app
