Our Tech Operations team scales security and reliability for our fast growing user base. This includes managing our network, hardware, and data centers, as well as creating the layer from which all Dropbox experiences are built. As our user base and product family continues to grow, tech operations is responsible for strengthening our foundation.

Role Description

If so, you’d be a great fit for the TPM role in infrastructure.

 Technical Program Managers are the force multipliers within the organization, that lead our strategic initiatives and ensure that all projects meet the high bar of excellence. You will partner with SRE subject matter experts and engineers across the company to transform how we run our infrastructure. You will help define how Dropbox mitigates million-dollar risks and promote best practices that improve how developers produce, run and monitor their services. Your insights will ensure we’re passionate about solving the most important problems for the maximum benefit. You are comfortable driving massive projects which span many teams, have a strong interest in doing the right thing for our users and always think critically and strategically about infrastructure impact to Dropbox. You are equally at home explaining your analyses and project recommendations to executives as you would be discussing the technical merits of solution to wider audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Scale and own all programs across the Incident Management lifecycle including: incident response best practices, incident commander program, post-mortem improvement program, and incident reporting/trends.
  • Develop repeatable processes to build insights from outages
  • Create mechanisms and opportunities to apply insights at scale
  • Ensure reliability (availability, durability, feature degradation, performance) risks are addressed promptly
  • Partner with teams to establish a shared vision and promote adoption for reliability initiatives
  • Develop roadmaps for availability programs and communicate progress to our engineering stakeholders, including executives

Requirements

  • 10+ years overall experience as a technical program manager in infrastructure, SRE or DevOps engineer
  • Experience driving diverse or company-wide programs
  • Proven ability and experience to influence, develop productive working relationships, and lead technical teams and key stakeholders from different business functions.
  • A diverse technical acumen—actively contribute to technical discussions, proactively identify challenges and risks, working closely with engineers and product manager on addressing challenges, and form mitigation plans
  • You enjoy working on ambiguous problems and teasing out trade offs.
  • You have the ability to communicate complex plans effectively.
  • You are able to bring order to a complex situation with various stakeholders approaching a strategic problem in different ways.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills. Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Exercise technical judgment to keep goals for programs, projects and products attainable within a given timeline.
