Role Description

We are hiring a Lead Motion Designer on the Brand Studio Team. As the lead Designer, you will be responsible for developing original creative motion design concepts and approaches, overseeing multiple projects through execution, and collaborating with various teams inside, and outside Dropbox. You will contribute to the development of our motion design principles, styleguide and creative direction over a variety of projects. This role will cross between both motion for product design, working closely with design research, engineering, design systems and product design teams, as well as work from our marketing partners contributing to events, advertising etc. 

Responsibilities

  • Contribute creative solutions and innovations.
  • Continue to define and develop the motion design system at Dropbox.
  • Articulate and defend conceptual and directional choices. 
  • Promote continual creative improvement and actively contribute to a culture of innovation, excellence and accountability. 
  • Conceive and create experience-oriented design solutions that fulfill strategic business objectives. 
  • Inspire and motivate creative teams and serve as overall creative lead. 
  • Direct all phases of creative work from concept through production. 
  • Cultivate creative motion design strategies. 
  • Lead motion efforts across multiple functions inside Dropbox, and help to partner with additional motion design talent outside the company. 

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in a motion role (at least 3+ years in an agency environment). 
  • A strong working knowledge of visual design and motion design
  • Recognized expertise in motion for interaction. 
  • Advanced experience managing the creative development process in a client-services environment. 
  • Comprehensive awareness and interest in new platforms and technologies for motion design and related mediums. 
  • Strong ability to provide clear creative direction and provide timely and helpful feedback to improve creative processes to keep work on budget and schedule. 
  • Excellent presentation skills and communication abilities at all levels. 
  • Strong ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short and long-term needs. 
  • Proven mentoring, supervisory, and team-building skills
