File back up and recovery
With Dropbox Business, you can recover deleted files and instantly restore previous versions of your work.
Dropbox is like a time machine. Business accounts keep snapshots of every change in your Dropbox folder, forever.
Restoring a deleted file

You can recover deleted files right from the Dropbox website, either individually or in groups.
To restore individual files:
- Sign in to the Dropbox website.
- Click the Show deleted files icon (the trash can) in the top right corner.
- All your deleted files will show up in grey.
- Select the file(s) you want to recover, and click the Restore button at the top of the screen.
To restore a group of files:
- Sign in to the Dropbox website.
- Click Trash on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Click a file name to see the event details.
- Click "Restore" (for an individual file) or "Restore all files" (for multiple files).
Note: Every deletion event in your Dropbox is recorded, including when groups of files get deleted.
Going back to a previous version

If you accidentally save a bad change to a file, or if the file is damaged or deleted, you can restore the file to an older version with just a few clicks.
From either the website or your computer:
- Right click (or control-click on a Mac) on the file you want to change.
- Click View Previous Versions... if you’re on your computer, or Version history on our website.
- Choose the version you want to recover and click Restore in the right-hand corner.
From within Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files:
- Click the Dropbox badge.
- From the pop-out window, click View file history...
- You'll be taken to the Dropbox website, where you'll see a full list of file revisions for your document.
- Choose the version you want to recover and click Restore in the right-hand corner.

Note: The Dropbox badge helps you work better with your colleagues by giving you shortcuts and notifications within Microsoft Office files:
- See if team members are viewing or editing Word, Powerpoint, or Excel files.
- Quickly send others a link to the file you're currently working on.
- Find previous versions of the file.
- Create shared files and folders and access sharing settings.
