Permanent file deletions

Prevent members of your team from permanently deleting files or folders, ensuring a more complete file history for your business.

Normally, the person who uploads a file, or the owner of a shared folder, has the ability to permanently delete files in Dropbox. However, the team admin of a Dropbox Business account can limit the ability to permanently delete files to team admins only.

Limit the ability to permanently delete files to team admins:

  1. Sign in to the Dropbox website with your admin credentials.
  2. Go to the Authentication tab in the Dropbox admin console.
  3. Under Permanent Delete, select No.
  4. Your team members will no longer see the option to permanently delete files.

Note: Team admins will still be able to permanently delete files, even if the Permanent Delete setting is set to No.
