How to invite people to your Dropbox team account

Certain types of admins can invite people to a Dropbox team account. Team members can invite people to a Dropbox team account if an admin allows it.

How to invite people to your Dropbox team if you're an admin

Admins can invite people individually with an email or in bulk with a CSV file. Follow the instructions for your preferred method below.

 

To invite people individually:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Click Invite members.
  5. Type the email of the person (or people) you’d like to invite.
  6. Click Invite [x] person or Invite [x] people.

 

To invite people in bulk with a CSV file:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Click Import CSV file on the right.
  5. Click Download template to fill out the CSV.
  6. Import your filled-out CSV.
  7. Click Continue.
    • You’ll see a window telling you how many invites you’re sending and how many licenses you have available.
  8. Click Invite.

How to invite people to your Dropbox team if you're a team member

Team members can invite people individually with their email if their admin allows it. To do this:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the top-right corner.
  3. Click View team and groups.
  4. Click Invite members.
    • If you don’t see Invite members, your admin may have disabled this feature for your team. Click Suggest members instead to send a suggestion to your team’s admin.
  5. Type the email of the person (or people) you’d like to invite.
  6. Click Invite to join.

FAQs about team invites

Is there a limit on the number of people you can invite to your Dropbox team?

Each person added to your team takes up one of your team's licenses. This includes pending invites and suspended members.

 

If you don’t have a spare license when you invite someone to your team, you’ll be charged for one. This doesn’t apply to teams that pay by manual invoicing. For these teams, the account executive will need to add more licenses if none are remaining.

What happens if you have an inactive license?

Inactive licenses aren’t automatically removed. Certain types of admins can add or remove licenses in the admin console.

Can I invite someone who is a member of another Dropbox team?

You can't invite a member to your team who is already on another Dropbox team account. They can either join your team using a different email address or leave their current team.

 

If an admin tries to add a team member who is already on a Dropbox team, they will receive an error saying "1 email was already invited by another team".

Can I add someone to my Dropbox team using ‘Sign in with Apple’?

If the member you’d like to invite used Sign in with Apple and hid their email, they'll need to update their email address before they can be added to your Dropbox team. You can’t add someone with a @privaterelay.appleid.com email address to a Dropbox team.
