Customers on paid Dropbox plans can log in to an unlimited number of devices, but there are limits for users on Dropbox Basic.

When you log into the Dropbox desktop or mobile app, that device is added to your device list in the security page of your account settings.

What is the device limit for my Dropbox plan?

Depending on your plan, you may only be allowed to be logged into a certain number of devices at a time.

Dropbox Basic

Dropbox Basic users can be logged into up to three devices at a time.

Note: If you're a Basic user, any devices you logged in to before March 2019 will remain on your device list, even if you're logged into more than three. However, if you'd like to log into a new device, you'll have to log out of your existing devices in order to do so or upgrade your Dropbox account.

Dropbox Plus, Family, Professional, and Essentials

Dropbox Plus, Family, Professional, and Essentials customers can log into as many devices as they need.

Dropbox Advanced, Business Plus, and Enterprise

Dropbox team users can log into as many devices as they need, but admins on Advanced, Business Plus, and Enterprise teams can limit the number of devices their teams can link.

Note: Logging in to dropbox.com doesn’t count toward this number or add that device to your device list.

How do I view my device list?

Your list of connected devices can be found in the security page of your account settings. To find this:

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials).
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click the Security tab.

Your devices are listed under Devices.

What do I do if my device limit is reached?

If you’re a Dropbox Basic user and you’re already logged into three devices, the next time you attempt to log into a device, you’ll be prompted to log out of one of your existing devices.

You can also log out of devices to remove them from your device list.
