Projects in Dropbox Paper

Projects in Dropbox Paper help you work with your team and organize all your docs. Projects are available to Dropbox Paper users. With projects, you can:

  • Organize docs and folders
  • Share relevant content with your team

Create a project

  1. Sign in to Dropbox Paper.
  2. Click Projects.
  3. Choose Create new project.
  4. Enter a name for your project. Optionally, you can add a description of the project.
  5. Choose how to share your project:
    • Anyone at your company: anyone at your company can discover and access your project and all docs within it.
    • Invite-only: only people invited to your project can discover your project. These people can access all docs inside it, and anyone added to those docs can as well.
  6. Click OK.

Explore projects

From the Projects tab in Paper, you have access to all your projects:

  • Recent projects: projects you recently viewed
  • My projects: projects you created and projects you were invited to
  • All projects: projects accessible to your whole team
  • Archived: Archived projects that you have access to

Add docs to a project

  1. Navigate to your project.
  2. Under Actions, choose Add docs to add an existing doc or Create new doc.
  3. If you choose Add docs to project, you can search for relevant docs from the pop-up box that appears.
  4. Select the docs relevant to your project and choose Add docs.

You can also add a doc to a project from within that doc:

  1. Navigate to the doc you’re interested in.
  2. Under the doc title, click Add to project.
  3. Select the project, or click Choose a project or folder and search for your project.
  4. Click Add to [project name].

If there are folders within your project, you can add a doc to that folder from this page.

Add folders to a project

  1. Navigate to your project.
  2. Under Actions, choose New folder.
  3. Name your folder and click Create.

You can also create folders inside existing folders using these same steps.

Add members to a project

  1. Navigate to your project.
  2. Under Actions, choose Add members.
  3. Enter the name of a team member you’d like to share a project with, or enter an email address. You can also add a message.
  4. Click Invite.

Change the name, permissions, or description of a project

  1. Navigate to your project.
  2. Under Actions, choose Edit project details.
  3. Change the name, description, or membership permissions for a project.
  4. Click OK.

Convert a folder to a project

You can convert a folder into a project, and a project into a folder.

  1. Navigate to the folder you want to convert.
  2. Click Convert to project.
  3. Enter a name for your project. Optionally, you can add a description of the project.
  4. Choose how to share your project:
    • Anyone at your company: anyone at your company can discover and access your project and all docs within it.
    • Invite-only: only people invited to your project can discover your project. These people can access all docs inside it, and anyone added to those docs can as well.
  5. Click OK.

To convert a project to a folder:

  1. Navigate to the project you want to convert.
  2. Click … More.
  3. Click Convert to folder.

When you convert projects to folders, the project description is deleted and the sharing settings remain the same.

Favorite a project

Favorite projects that you need to access often:

  1. Navigate to your project.
  2. Click the star next to the name of your project.

Search for a project

Search for docs, folders, and projects using the search bar in Dropbox Paper.
