How to reset your Dropbox password

If you forgot your Dropbox password, the easiest way to reset it is to visit the forgot password page. If that doesn’t work for you, there are a few other steps you can try.

Note: If you’re a Dropbox Business team member, please contact your admin for help resetting your Dropbox Business password.

How to reset your password from a linked device

If you're signed in to the Dropbox mobile app on your phone or tablet, you can reset your password by sending a notification to that device.

Not receiving the password reset email? 

If you didn’t receive the reset email:

  • Check the spam folder of your inbox
  • If the reset email isn't there, try adding no-reply@dropbox.com as a contact to your address book, and then resending the password reset email
  • If that still doesn’t work, you can contact support

How to reset your password on dropbox.com

  1. Open dropbox.com in your web browser.
  2. Click Sign in.
  3. Click Forgot your password?
  4. Enter the email address you used to create the account.
  5. Check your email inbox and click the link in the email you received to reset your password.

When you reset your password, you’ll stay logged into any other connected devices. You can log out these other devices from your account settings

How to reset your password on the desktop app

  1. Click the Dropbox icon from the row of icons on your computer's desktop. 
  2. Click the globe icon, which will take you to dropbox.com.
  3. Click your avatar (profile picture) in the upper right corner. 
  4. Click Settings.
  5. Select the Security tab.
  6. Click Change password.
  7. Enter the email address you used to create the account.
  8. Check your email inbox and click the link in the email you received to reset your password.
