Dropbox Release Notes

You can now review, add, or remove the company domains that Dropbox Protect uses to classify owners, collaborators, and shared content as internal or external. Keep the list current so Protect reports and policy workflows reflect your organization accurately, including changes from acquisitions, subsidiaries, or regional domains.

Dropbox now supports more ways to take action on your content in OpenAI workflows. In addition to accessing, saving, and sharing Dropbox content, you can now organize files and folders, generate file requests, and execute multi-step workflows with Dropbox-created skills.

You can now see a clearer prompt to request access when a Dropbox team matches your work email domain. Join the team or skip the prompt and continue to the shared file or folder, so legitimate internal users can get the right access without blocking the content they came to view.

Dropbox Sign now applies a “Digitally signed by:” signature frame around an eSignature immediately after it’s added to a document. The frame appears across all signature types, providing a clear visual indicator of a digitally signed agreement and giving reviewers greater confidence in the completed document.

You can now require admins to verify their password before permanently deleting content from Content Manager. You can apply the requirement to reduce the risk of accidental or unauthorized large-scale deletions while matching your organization's security policies.

To access: Admin Console → Settings → Content → Storage → Protection of content deletion

Admins can set up alerts for storage thresholds on top-level team folders. You can choose who is notified when a folder reaches 80% and 100% of its limit, so you can clean up files or follow up with folder editors as the folder approaches or reaches its assigned limit.

Admins can export a CSV report of team folder paths, sizes, last modified dates, and internal or external access. Use it to find storage-heavy folders, review external access, and clean up stale or archived folders from one report.

Admins can see team storage grouped by content type in Storage Explorer, including team folders, member folders, shared folders, orphaned content, backups, and Replay.

Use it to spot where quota is being used and open folder details or generate reports without checking each area separately.

You can now sign up or log in to Dropbox with Microsoft on supported desktop and web sign-in pages. This gives you another sign-in option, so you can use the Microsoft account you already use.

Dropbox Protect is now available as a standalone solution, bringing capabilities previously available in Dropbox Dash as Protect and Control into a dedicated experience for managing access to company data across Dropbox, Google Drive, and Microsoft 365. IT and security admins can view risky sharing activity and policy violations in one place, fix access permissions in bulk, and enforce policies across connected platforms. Dropbox Sign now includes new API capabilities and SDK improvements for developers building signing workflows. Set advanced signature details at the request level, access more account configuration details through the AccountResponse object, and build with improved .NET and Ruby SDK reliability.

You can now log in to Dropbox on mobile using passkeys in addition to a password or separate 2FA options. This speeds up sign-in and reduces friction so you can access your account more securely without extra steps.

You can now view visually related images in Dash in Dropbox when opening an image, with results surfaced automatically from across your library. Admins can now set custom storage limits in Settings and view or update each user’s limit directly from the Members tab. This gives admins centralized control and visibility so you can enforce usage policies and manage storage more efficiently.

Admins can now visualize and drill into your team’s full folder structure in the Admin Console to see where storage is being used without joining folders. This gives admins complete visibility into storage usage so you can identify large files and manage space without manual work or permission changes.

Admins can now see team storage usage in more places, buy additional storage as an admin, or request more storage as a team member when your team is running low from Admin Dashboard. This gives teams clearer visibility and next steps so admins can act sooner and members can flag storage issues before work is disrupted.

With the Dropbox app in ChatGPT, you can easily access and preview your Dropbox files, save AI-generated content directly to Dropbox, and share links to your work without leaving ChatGPT.

You can now create a team space directly from an existing shared folder with pre-populated invites and file transfer options. This helps you start collaborating faster with existing collaborators without rebuilding your setup. Learn more

Admins can now enable anyone in their company domain to join your team automatically without additional admin approval when licenses are available here under “request to join the team.” This removes manual approval bottlenecks so teams can grow faster with people who already work together. Admins now see a redesigned billing page in the Admin console that replaces the previous billing experience. The updated layout makes it easier to find plans, manage licenses and add-ons, update billing cycles, and take action without navigating across multiple pages. Admins can now see inactive users in the team member storage chart. This update makes it easier to see when deleted or suspended users are using significant file storage space, which can count towards the team’s overall quota. You can now upload files up to 2TB on all platforms, such as mobile, on dropbox.com, or through the Dropbox API, matching our desktop upload limits. Learn more

Dropbox now supports Apple Pay as a payment method in select web checkout and billing flows. This allows eligible users on supported Apple devices to complete purchases or start trials using Apple Pay. To access: On supported Apple devices, Apple Pay appears alongside existing payment methods during checkout and in billing settings.

Admins can now see team storage usage over time and a breakdown of how storage is used across their team members. This helps admins understand where growth is coming from, identify top storage contributors, and plan future storage needs with clearer data. Admins can now view and manage files deleted by team members from a single, centralized deleted files page, with improved visibility and filtering. We also launched a new Restorations tab with clear status indicators (in progress, successful, cancelled, failed) for all users. This makes it faster to find specific deletions, reduce context switching during investigations, and take action when responding to data changes.
