Modify or archive a Dropbox Paper folder

With Paper folders you can organize multiple documents in the same place. Folders make it easy to share and collaborate with your team. With Paper folders, you can:

  • Make sure your most important docs are at the top of a folder
  • Removes docs that are no longer necessary from folders
  • Organize your docs in subfolders

Pin a doc to the top of a folder directory

You can pin a Paper doc to the top of a folder by adding the pushpin emoji into the doc title.

  1. In the title field of a doc, type ":pushpin" at the start of the title.
  2. Type ":" at the end of the title.
  3. The doc is then pinned to the top of the list of docs in a folder, regardless of when it was last edited.

Archive a folder

  1. Navigate to the page for the current folder.
  2. Click the More option.
  3. Click Archive.
    • If you click Archive, the folder is archived and all of its contents are unfiled (but not deleted).

Remove a doc from a folder

From the folder view:

  1. Navigate to the page for the current folder. You should see a list of all docs contained within that folder.
  2. Hover over the relevant doc or folders and check the boxes that appear.
  3. In the bar that appears, click Move to move the doc to a new location.

From the doc view:

  1. In an open doc, click the icon.
  2. Click Remove from folder.

Create a folder inside a folder

Subfolders are folders that are created inside of other Paper folders.

  1. Navigate inside of an existing folder.
  2. Click New folder.
  3. Name the subfolders.
  4. Click Create.

Move an existing folder

  1. Navigate inside of an existing folder.
  2. Click the More option.
  3. Click Move.
  4. Select from your existing folders, or create a new one.
  5. The existing folder is then nested as a subfolder under the new folder’s page.
  6. Note: This is also reflected in the navigation at the top of the page (for example "Folders > Parent folder > Child folder").
