Team Description

Our Tech Operations team scales security and reliability for our fast growing user base. This includes managing our network, hardware, and data centers, as well as creating the layer from which all Dropbox experiences are built. As our user base and product family continues to grow, tech operations is responsible for strengthening our foundation.

Role Description

Dropbox is seeking an experienced supplier and procurement manager to join the foundations of our rapidly growing technical operations team. This person will be responsible for building server and rack supply chains to deliver infrastructure that will enable Dropbox to scale beyond our current 1 billion files/day stored by 500M+ users.


  • Develop commodity technology roadmaps that align business requirements with industry and supplier capabilities
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends including market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscape
  • Develop and execute commodity strategies for, but not limited to, Hard Drives, CPU, SSD, DRAM etc. 
  • Work closely with Engineering to influence technical design decisions to meet business objectives
  • Lead the supplier selection process, price negotiations and contract negotiations 
  • Manage all aspects of new supplier on-boarding and ramp up
  • Interface with Planning to assess current and future demand requirements
  • Ensure continuity of supply from ramp to EOL 
  • Drive supplier performance improvement through executive and/or quarterly business reviews
  • Develop and sustain supplier relationships at the executive and management levels  
  • Work with OEM and ODM partners to ensure execution of commodity strategies  


  • BA/BS in supply chain or equivalent with at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • At least 5 years of server commodity procurement or supply chain management experience at a major manufacturing or technology company 
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes
  • Must be able to prepare and present quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis of sourcing alternatives
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in purchasing field is essential
  • Ability to direct contract negotiations and RFx process
  • Strength in negotiations, cost/price analysis and purchasing procedures is also essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA degree 
  • Supply Chain or Procurement designation from APICS or ISM
  • Experience working and partnering with suppliers at a global scale
