Research at Dropbox

Help shape the future of Dropbox

We built Dropbox to help people work better together. That’s why we’re looking for people like you to tell us if we’re on the right track. Good or bad, we want to hear it all. Your feedback helps us improve Dropbox to better meet your needs.

In our office or yours

Our research teams run studies of all kinds to learn from our users. Some studies are done in our office or yours, and some are done remotely on the web.

Get rewarded for your time

A typical study lasts between 45 minutes to 2 hours, and we give out gift cards as a thank you for your time and opinions.

Basic FAQs

What happens after I sign up?

After you sign up, you’ll be added to our research participant database. We’ll then reach out to you if we think you’re a good fit for a study. You can always say no if you’re not interested.

What is this research participant database?

The database collects information about potential participants including location, Dropbox use, and contact info. This information is kept confidential and will only be used for user research. Your information will never be shared for marketing purposes, and you'll only hear from us if it's about an upcoming study.

How do I get selected?

There’s no guarantee that you’ll be selected for one of our studies. Based on the information you've given us, we’ll have a better understanding of whether you match what we’re looking for.

What’s the time commitment?

A typical user study lasts between 45 minutes to 2 hours. Some studies take place over multiple days or weeks for about 15—30 minutes/day.

I’m not near San Francisco. Can I still participate?

Of course! Many of our studies are done in San Francisco, but we also do remote studies where we can chat with you over the phone or a computer. We also visit different cities to talk with people in person.

I don’t use Dropbox. Can I still participate?

Yes, please! We’d love to hear from our current users as well as people who don’t use Dropbox.

Will I get spammed?

All information is kept confidential and will be used only by the User Research team at Dropbox.

How do I update my information or unsubscribe?
