Basic FAQs

After you sign up, you’ll be added to our research participant database. We’ll then reach out to you if we think you’re a good fit for a study. You can always say no if you’re not interested.

The database collects information about potential participants including location, Dropbox use, and contact info. This information is kept confidential and will only be used for user research. Your information will never be shared for marketing purposes, and you'll only hear from us if it's about an upcoming study.

There’s no guarantee that you’ll be selected for one of our studies. Based on the information you've given us, we’ll have a better understanding of whether you match what we’re looking for.

Invited participants usually get a gift card as a thank you for their time and opinions. The value depends on how much involvement is required.

A typical study last between 30 minutes to an hour. Some studies take place over multiple days or weeks for about 15—30 minutes/day.

Of course! Many of our studies are done in San Francisco, but we also do remote studies where we can chat with you over the phone or a computer. We also visit different cities to talk with people in person.

Yes, please! We’d love to hear from our current users as well as people who don’t use Dropbox.
